Psychological & Trauma Therapy
Integrative Therapy
In my integrative therapeutic framework, I emphasize systemic and talk therapy. I complement these approaches with Gestalt techniques and, if desired, the trauma-related EMDR method. Each therapy is tailored to the unique needs and goals of my clients, ensuring a personalized experience that responds to their evolving requirements.
Systemic Therapy
We all exist within various systems — whether in our families, workplaces, social circles, or hobbies and clubs. Each of these environments has its own group dynamics. In systemic therapy, the focus is on the social context of psychological stress and mental health, particularly the interactions among the components of the system.
Constellation work is a key method used in this approach, where individual situations are positioned in relation to one another. This visual representation of dynamics within the network of relationships helps clients better understand their roles and empowers them to enact meaningful changes within their systems.
Talk Therapy
Talk therapy is a client-centered approach within humanistic psychology. Unlike other forms of therapy, it emphasizes the potential for growth in the here and now and the realization of these possibilities.
However, understanding the root causes of problematic thought patterns is essential. By uncovering these underlying issues, clients can gain deeper self-awareness, which in turn supports their journey toward developing a more positive mental state.
Walk ‘n’ Talk
Talking about feelings, worries, or fears can be a significant challenge for many clients, including men. The "Walk 'n' Talk" approach transforms the therapeutic setting by allowing clients to engage in conversation while walking in the fresh air, eliminating the need to sit opposite the therapist. This often makes it easier to discuss what’s on their minds.
As they walk, clients can let their eyes wander and lose themselves in the landscape. The movement helps release inner restlessness and may even trigger unconscious memories. Additionally, the option to leave at any time often provides clients with a sense of security, encouraging them to open up more freely.
„The brokenhearted are the bravest among us. They had the courage to love.“
– Brené Brown
Trauma Therapy
Post-traumatic patterns of thinking and behavior can have a detrimental and stressful impact on the lives of those affected. In trauma therapy, the primary goal is to recognize these learned survival strategies so they can be changed.
This process involves promoting the client’s sense of security and stability, restructuring negative beliefs and behaviors, and breaking down and processing traumatic memories. Simultaneously, it focuses on building healthy coping strategies and resources to facilitate emotional processing, healing from trauma, and restoring psychological balance.
EMDR
The abbreviation EMDR stands for "Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing".
The treatment mainly focuses on traumatic experiences as well as stressful and challenging life situations. Through specific instructions and eye movements, the experiences and shadow themes can be broken up and reprocessed in the brain, thus reducing their intensity and finally bringing about the desired emotional clarification and processing.
For clients who have difficulties with this visual method due to epilepsy or other neurological or optical disorders, additional auditory and tactile variants using headphones or pulsators are available.
